04 Aug 2025

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is our national day dedicated to celebrating our children. Since 1988 it has been held every year on the 4 August.
Children’s Day gives all Australians the opportunity to show their support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and learn about the impact that culture, family and community play in the life of every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child.
Children’s Day is important as a national celebration for our children to give them confidence and advocate for systemic changes to be made.
The 2025 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day theme Little Footsteps, Big Future honours the journeys our children take as they grow—each step guided by culture, community and connection to Country. NSW CER is proud to walk with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in this journey.
To celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day we would like to invite you to listen to an episode of Little Yarns to go on a journey to a different Nation; listen to the sounds of Country, share some language and have a little yarn. https://www.abc.net.au/kidslisten/programs/little-yarns
